Consumer Directed Employer
You have choice and control over your care.
Consumer Direct Care Network Washington (CDWA) is the Consumer Directed Employer (CDE) for Washington’s Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS). The CDE program allows individuals to self-direct their care and remain in their home and community.
The CDE is an Agency with Choice service model. That means:

You are the managing employer, so you choose, schedule, and supervise your Individual Providers (IPs).

We are the legal employer, so we handle payroll and other administrative tasks.
Talk to your Case Manager to determine eligibility for CDE services. If you qualify, your Case Manager will refer you to us to start the hiring process for your IP. If you have not already identified an IP, we will help you find someone to provide your care.

Personal Care Services (ADLs)
IPs provide support for activities of daily living (ADLs). Some examples of ADLs are bathing/grooming, dressing, toileting, and eating.
Personal Care Services (IADLs)
IPs provide support with instrumental activities of daily living (IADLs). Some examples include meal preparation, shopping, laundry, medication reminders, and light housework.
Respite Services
Respite services provide relief to primary IPs while you continue to get the care you need, including personal care, support, supervision, and companionship.

CDWA works closely with the following organizations to provide in-home care services across Washington.

Talk to your Case Manager to determine eligibility for long-term care services and to develop a Plan of Care. If you qualify for CDE services, your Case Manager will refer you to CDWA to start the hiring process for your IP. If you do not already have someone identified to provide your care, CDWA will assist you in finding someone.
